Mr John Pilger, the well-respected, renowned Australian investigative journalist. He was the first journalist to report on Cambodian genocide known as The Killing Fields in 1979. I was fortunate enough to connect with John through my editor. Even though Mr Pilger was very busy, he agreed to read a chapter of my memoir. He wrote to my Editor, “Good to hear from you. I’m sure you know there have been many stories/books/films of Khmer who survived Pol Pot and sought refuge; I’ve contributed to this, though it has been some years now. What might interest a publisher are insights into the ‘why’ of that terrible time, and if a personal account offered that dimension, it might be seen as different from what had gone before“.
He inspired me. He was one of the forces behind my drive to get the story written and self-published my personal memoir, Father Missed His Plane.
May you Rest In Peace Mr John Pilger. And thank you for your feedback.
