Author’s Note!

During the four years under the Khmer Rouge regime from 1975 to 1979, I had no access to a clock. I also had no calendar. Therefore, I could not identify and record the dates, months, or years when events happened. I have tried the best to place my story in a chronological order. I used the monsoon seasons as guidance for my readers. The story is based on my own childhood memories, and mine alone. Over the years, I wrote in my notebook diary. I wrote whenever I recalled events that happened to me. Although some events in the village of Kor which are important to this story were recounted to me by my mother and family members.
